Organize a Course

The Course curriculum can be licensed by organizers (Local Organizing Committee - LOC) who wish to host a course locally.

Below are detailed instructions, rules, and application procedures for LOCs:

Requesting a Course

If you are interested in organizing the course, please download the LOC Agreement and return it to the course administrator at least six weeks prior to the course.

Upon completion of the required forms, you will receive an invoice along with the Credit Card Payment Form and IOF Bank Details. After receipt of the payment, you will receive a username and password to access the restricted section of the website called Course Material and download the course slides, syllabus, and course logo for your promotional material.

Course Fees

The LOC will pay a set fee per offering of the course, payable prior to obtaining course material or offering the course. An offering is considered one date/session. If a LOC offers both the Clinician and the Technologist Course at the same time, they will pay only one fee and submit only one application/agreement.

Not-For-Profit LOC Pricing
First program per Calendar Year (January 1 – December 31) - USD 500
Each additional program in the same calendar year - USD 400

For-Profit LOC Pricing
USD 5000 for IOF/ISCD Corporate members
USD 12000 for non-IOF/ISCD members

Course Faculty Selection

The LOC selects the course faculty and has a responsibility to assure that the faculty selected is knowledgeable of the course and of the concepts being taught. When selecting the faculty, please consider the following:

  • Knowledge of the course
  • Knowledge of the field as it relates to subject matters covered in the course
  • Understanding of the Official Positions of both the IOF and ISCD
  • Membership in IOF (either IOF member or member of CNS, CSA, or Board) and/or ISCD
  • Academic credentials sufficient to be accepted by appropriate continuing education accrediting bodies.

The review process will depend on whether the LOC is a not-for-profit or for-profit organization:

Not-for-profit LOC – Faculty appointed by the LOC must be approved by a member of one of the following groups: the ISCD Education Council, one of the ISCD Regional Panels, the IOF Committee of Scientific Advisors, or the IOF Regional Advisory Committee.

A form with the Faculty selected by the LOC, along with the name of the person who approved them, must be submitted to the course administrator six weeks prior to the course.

For-profit LOC – Faculty selected by the LOC must be submitted for approval to the course administrator six weeks prior to the course. The LOC should allow 10 business days for the faculty approval.

Syllabus

The course syllabus will be the approved course slides of each module and will be provided to each attendee by the LOC. The LOC may print and distribute the course slides, but cannot distribute the course slides electronically.

Online access to the course slides will be provided upon completion and submission of the LOC Agreement and payment of the course fee.

ISCD sells study guides (in paper format only). These can be purchased on the ISCD website. Please note that the study guides are not based on the Osteoporosis Essentials course material, but on a body of knowledge.

Local Modifications

Local Organizing Committees (LOC’s) may not modify core slides, but they may add or delete slides at their own cost to the course to improve local applicability. All additions or deletions must be submitted to the course administrator at least four (4) weeks prior to the course. All approved, modified slides must be presented as auxiliary slides (template available in Course Material section after approval and payment), thereby clearly indicating that the slide is not an original slide and not part of the joint course.

Translating Course Material

All course material is provided in English. The course slides may be translated into different languages at the expense of the LOC, however, the translated material must be validated as accurate and a copy submitted to the course administrator at least six weeks prior to the course.  Before translating the material, please send the Course Slides Translation Approval Form to the course administrator. The LOC should speak to the course administrator prior to translating the material to discuss how the translation will be completed, how it will be validated and timelines.

Continuing Education

The LOC will be responsible for obtaining and offering continuing education relevant to their audience(s). We will not seek, nor obtain, for the LOC any form of continuing education credits for the program.

Attestation Exam

NEW: Offer participants a post-course exam as part of the package so they receive an Attestation of Achievement. 

The Attestation Exam is optional. The LOC can either pay the exam fees for all participants or the participants can pay for the exam individuallyThe LOC is requested to complete and send the Course Reporting Form to the course administrator. Based on this form, Course participants will receive an email after completion of the course with instructions on how to pay for and/or to access the exam.
